Research ​​interests:
Isolation and purification of various biologically active compounds from microbial and plant biomass: fusicoccin, lichenan, fucoidan, ortho-nitrophenyl xylooligosaccharides, etc. Studies of their biological functions, structure and applications.
Molecular phylogeny, molecular biology and heterologous protein expression.
Identification, cloning and recombinant expression of genes encoding targeted enzymes with unique biological/biochemical function and/or application potential.
Purification and basic biochemical characterization of native and recombinant enzymes.
Detailed study of enzymatic mechanisms using specially designed substrates and detailed kinetic analysis.
Rational modification of enzymes for various applications using knowledge of protein structure and enzyme mechanism.
Research on the mechanisms of biomineralization and biofilm formation, their relationships, applied aspects of biomineralization.
